Things in My House Started Moving Around — I Installed a Security Camera and Was Shocked When I Saw the Footage

At 62, I had grown accustomed to living alone after my husband’s passing 15 years ago. Our son had moved abroad two decades ago, leaving me in our family home. Life had settled into a quiet routine until one day, things began to change.

For weeks, I noticed small items—vases, picture frames, and even furniture—moved around my house. Initially, I attributed it to forgetfulness. But when a dining chair appeared in the living room and a family portrait I hadn’t touched in years was found on the kitchen counter, I couldn’t dismiss it any longer.

Determined to find an explanation, I began taking photos of each room before bed and comparing them in the morning. To my shock, the furniture had indeed shifted. This wasn’t just my imagination.

Unable to sleep due to the growing paranoia, I decided to install a security camera system. I placed cameras in the living room, kitchen, hallway, and my bedroom. For the first few days, the footage showed nothing unusual—just empty rooms and the occasional stray cat.

Then, on the fifth day, I reviewed the living room footage and froze. A figure dressed entirely in black, with their face hidden beneath a mask, appeared. They moved cautiously, rearranging furniture and placing objects in new positions. The intruder was silent and methodical, operating during the hours I was out running errands or getting groceries.

Panicked, I called the police and reported the intrusion. The authorities investigated, but the identity of the masked figure remained a mystery. The unsettling realization that someone had been in my home, moving things around without my knowledge, left me shaken.

This experience forced me to confront the vulnerabilities of living alone and the unsettling reality that not all is as it seems in the comfort of one’s own home.
