A fresh batch of Instagram photos has left many fans concerned about a celebrity father’s judgment during a day of summer fun.
On May 29, Justin Bieber shared new images of his 9-month-old son Jack on Instagram, capturing moments from what appeared to be a carefree summer day. However, it wasn’t long before the seemingly innocent snapshots sparked backlash, with many questioning the singer’s parenting decisions around his baby boy.

The 31-year-old pop star uploaded a carousel of sun-soaked images to his Instagram on Thursday, inviting followers into a glimpse of his laid-back lifestyle.
In one of the first photos, Justin could be seen balancing baby Jack on his head while donning a black sweatsuit and looking away from the camera.
Another snapshot featured Justin shirtless and seated outdoors, looking fondly at his son, who was lying nearby in black-and-white checkered shorts. The child’s face was once again not visible
However, in the photo before that one, the singer is seen smoking a cigar next to a friend, seemingly on the same couch as he was with his son.
The rest of the post painted a picture of a fun outing—Justin smiled beside friends in front of a golf cart, browsed sweet treats in a shop, and shared a candid laugh. He captioned it with, “Gonna be a good summer.”
Among the most critical reactions were those accusing the singer of smoking near his child. On Instagram, one person wrote, “Dont smoke in front your kid 🙌 [sic].”
Another said, “Dude there is no way you have that baby around that smoke… be better like we know you can be 😭 [sic].” A third questioned, “Is he smoking in front of his baby? Social services should pay him a visit.” Others simply pointed out, “Second hand smoking,” and added, “unsafe behaviour.”
One person commented, “You are smoking with your baby around… What type of father do [sic] that? Shame on you.”
Another urged responsibility with, “Even smoke that lingers on clothes or furniture (known as thirdhand smoke) can be harmful. So…maybe consider that. You’re a parent now. Act like one.”
The singer and his wife, Hailey Bieber, welcomed their first son, Jack, in August 2024, and although Justin has not addressed the comments, the backlash underscores the public’s heightened sensitivity toward parenting standards.
The Bieber family has been the subject of much backlash from netizens over the years. As previously reported, on April 7, 2023, Justin’s father, Jeremy Bieber, took to Instagram to celebrate his step-daughter on her sweet 16 and didn’t mention his son, something that fans online quickly took issue with.
“Happy sweet 16 to this beautiful girl @alliebieber. I am so proud of the young woman u are becoming. Have the best day of your life and a better day tomorrow. #sweetsixteen (sic),” Jeremy captioned the post.
In the comments section, fans question why Jeremy did not offer the same gesture to his famous son, whose birthday was on March 1. “Where was Justin’s post on his birthday?” one fan asked. Another fan shared the same sentiment, questioning, “Where was Justin’s?” A third fan typed, “Weird. Another bday shoutout but not one to Justin.”
On the other hand, Justin’s mother, Patricia “Pattie” Mallette, did turn to Instagram on her son’s special day and took a trip down memory lane with a five-image post of throwback pictures of the “Baby” singer.
“Baby, baby, baby, oh, You’re 29!? Where did the time go?? I LOVE YOU FOREVER #happybirthdayjustinbieber,” Patricia captioned the post.
Jeremy and Patricia never married and parted ways shortly after she gave birth to their only child together in 1994 in London, Ontario, Canada.
After finding love with another woman, Erin Wagner, Jeremy welcomed the eldest of Justin’s half-siblings, Jazmyn, on May 30, 2008. Like her half-brother, Jazmyn grew up in Canada and has traveled worldwide with her famous half-brother.
On November 20, 2009, Erin gave birth to her and Jeremy’s second child together, their son Jaxon. In 2016, Jaxon was his older half-brother’s date to the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, and the singer once took to Instagram to gush about his brother.
“I sit here and look at all of these photos, and I’m reminded of how much I love you, my precious little bro,” he wrote.
After splitting with Erin, Jeremy Bieber married Chelsey Rebelo in 2018, who had her daughter, Allie, during a previous relationship. Although Justin and Allie aren’t related by blood, they still share a close bond and were photographed spending quality time together in 2022.
Although the singer was on tour at the time, he put his career on hold and shared a meal with his half-siblings, step-sister, and his wife, Hailey Bieber.
